triathlon day!!

So I am probably not doing the triathlon this year, but one weekend youxi and I decided to do our own triathlon. We started out with a hike in the Santa Monica mountains with some friends, then had a bike ride on the beach with some work friends, then ended the day by soaking in a jacuzzi at my place.

winter 2009

so during winter I usually hibernate. This year however was different. In January I tried to get out and go hiking with some friends. This made the winter a lot better than many to start with, but then what made this winter fantastic was meeting this fantastic person, youxi. For our first date we went out to dinner and then to see Coraline. A few weeks after that on valentines day we went snowboarding and then he surprised me and took me out to this awesome restaurant. Snowboarding was so much fun. Youxi was a great teacher and very patient with my falling all over the place. Then dinner was at this Indian restaurant where there were a few tables where you laid on your side to eat.





Youxi also took me on a tour of UCLA. It is a beautiful campus and a fantastic day!



My parents and sister came. They staid in Oceanside and i went down to visit on the weekends and a few days during the week. We went whale watching, ate at this really cool restaurant that look like an Italian villa, and went to this flower garden.

end of 2008 and the start of something new

It has been awhile since I have made any posts and a lot has happened. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and everything in between. On weekends I have tried to explore, hang out with friends, and just be outside.

I tried surfing with my friend Chris and Katie. They are really good and well I just failed miserably. They are really good, me not so much.



I have also been on a lot of hikes recently. California has had some great weather this winter, minus a week or two. One of my favorite hikes was sandstone peak. It is extremely hard to get to. It is smack dab in the middle of the Santa Monica mountains. You have to take the windy but beautiful road up and over the mountains. Where you can only go 20 miles an hour and have to be careful not to gock at the beauty of the place because there are huge drop offs over the side of the road.

Then there was Halloween at DW. Yes the fountain is red, and yes there is a huge dragon head on the side of one of the buildings (oops ok there is no dragon head in this picture but there was one and it was very larrgge). Halloween was a huge deal where lots of people dressed up and there was a best costume competition. There were cotton candy and candy apple stands. Little kids running around trick or treating in the different buildings. It was great.


Next was Thanksgiving where I went home for a couple of days and visited my family and my friend Iuri who is finishing up his masters at Ohio state.


Then a month later I spent 2 weeks home which ended to be this crazy whirl wind of events. One of the best and most exciting things is my sister is getting married and we through her a wedding shower.

For my b-day this year and last year my parents sent me a hhuuuuge balloon with a ton of cookies!

triathlon

I was convinced by a co worker that participating in a triathlon would be fun. So I decided to try it out this year by being part of a relay team. I was the swimmer. It was a lot of work but it was a great experience. The triathlon was to help raise money for the children's hospital There were a bunch of celebrities including Cindy Crawford and J lo.

Family visit!!!

In August my family was able to come out and visit me again and this time Rachel was able to come. We had a blast. For the first weekend they stayed with me. We went to la brea tar pits and found Canter's deli. Then my mom and dad went to ventura while my sister and I spent a day at the beach and went to griffth park for my friends Vio's b-day. Then we headed up to Venture and spent the rest of the week with our parents. We went to channel island and wine tasting. here are some pictures!

Horse back riding!

I haven't been horse back riding in a really long time. I took a class at Bowling Green, but that was 4 years ago. But horse back riding is so much fun and it just so happens that there are a bunch of horse back riding places practically right next to DreamWorks. One of my friends and a fellow DW employee went on a horse back riding outing with the lighting department and she thought that it was so much fun that she had to share it with the rest of us. So begins our Saturday afternoon. The trip took about 1 hour and 1/2 and we went to an over look in Griffith Park. It was beautiful and so much fun.
